Fishing In Charleston
When it comes to fishing there's no better place than right here in Charleston, SC.
From inshore to offshore catches, there is plenty to go around and always fun as hell to catch.
When I'm inshore fishing I prefer the creeks on Johns Island or the ones in the Wando close to Daniel Island.
Who wants the expense of a $100,000 boat? Get a small creek boat and you're all set for a fun year on the inter coastal waters.
Lures
Everyone has their favorite lures but I'm going to tell you what I know is a sure thing.
D.O.A. Shrimp, Salt Water Assassin Plastics, and Manhadens are all great things to insure a good day of fishing.
If you using any of those lures and don't catch fish then you have no idea of where to go to catch fish.
Go to Charleston Angler and tell them you want a salt water hot spot map. Cost around $20 and well worth it.

Fishing Has Never Been So Good In The Carolinas!!!

Clouter Creek
There are plenty of red fish right behind Daniel Island by the docks of the folks homes off the creek. Cast as close to the mud bank and they will knock the crap out ya bait. I get bites before the lure hits the water good.
This is a well known creek for "reds." Clouter Creek; Google it!
D.O.A. works ok but I don't like them.
All you need is a plastic grub and you good to go. I prefer the saltwater assassin. I out fish the D.O.A. 5-1.

Boat Engines and Parts
If you know of anyone with an Evinrude 9.5 that's no good and they wanting to sell it for parts, let me know folks.
I've got one in good working condition but I'd love to have a parts motor.
Mine is around a 1967 model.
These little motors are tuff as hell and excellent for trolling. Great on gas as well. You just can't beat an old Evinrude.
I'm in need of a good trolling motor at a reasonable price as well. Not looking for anything fancy, just something that will get the job done.

Mud Flat
One of the best known facts about fishing in Charleston is how productive
the mud flats are for red fish. Your best bet is going to the
Wando River in Mt. Pleasant to find such locations.

Bait wise you would use blue crab or I prefer manhaden.
Also using plastic grubs work well. I prefer Salt Water Assassins.

Get a boat with a flat bottom that can handle being in about 1 1/2 ft of water and to make things
easy use a push pole. Trolling motors would actually not be a good idea and the quieter you are the better your chances.

The Charleston Angler
When I need tackle from a local shop I deal with Charleston Angler. Tucker and the boys are always a pleasure to deal with and very knowledgeable about all your fishing needs.
You get a chance go by and tell the guys hi and stock up on all your popular tackle.
my boatSmall Boat Is All You Need
This is all you need for fishing folks. The fish don't care how fancy ya boat is.

Stop trying to be fancy and fish if you gonna fish you sidewalk sissies....

Devils Fork
If you want to do some really great fishing especially during the winter time then I suggest a trip to Devils Fork in Lake Jocassee.

The Bass and Rainbow Trout are so plentiful that you will wear yourself out casting for them.

We went one November and rented a cabin for 3 days and in the first day caught over 45 fish. By the 3rd day our arms were killing us but we couldn't stop.

Awesome place to fish folks, trust me! Lake Jocassee
